[01-17-2025] – Four Injured Following Ambulance Accident at Highways 89 and 77

Sparta Twp, PA – A two-vehicle collision involving an ambulance occurred at the junction of State Highways 89 and 77, resulting in four individuals being hospitalized on Friday evening. The accident took place around 7 p.m., as reported by the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) in Corry.

Officials stated that the incident transpired when an ambulance, traveling along Highway 77, failed to stop at a stop sign. This led to a collision with a pickup truck that was entering the intersection on Highway 89. Emergency crews, including members from the Spartansburg Volunteer Fire Department, EmergyCare, and the Bloomfield Township Volunteer Fire Department, swiftly responded to the scene to provide assistance.

As a result of the accident, the ambulance driver, a second crew member, and a patient being transported in the ambulance all sustained moderate injuries and were promptly taken to Corry Memorial Hospital. Initially, the driver of the pickup truck declined medical transport. However, they later decided to seek treatment and were transported to the same hospital by a private vehicle.

Currently, the cause of the crash is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police in Corry. Our thoughts are with the injured parties as they recover from this unfortunate incident.
