Clayton, New York – A man from Evans Mills was killed Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on County Route 54 in the town of Clayton, Jefferson County. The incident occurred on March 27, 2025, at approximately 4:46 PM.
According to the New York State Police in Watertown, the driver, identified as Marc Bryan Gross, 45, was traveling in a Toyota Tacoma when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. Gross was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The collision caused significant damage to the utility pole, resulting in live electrical wires on the scene. National Grid crews were called to safely address the hazard before responders could access the vehicle.
Mr. Gross was the only occupant of the vehicle. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
