Lancaster County, PA (November 24, 2025) – A crash with vehicle entrapment occurred around 5:30 p.m. Monday in the area of Willow Road and Franklin Circle, prompting a response from local fire departments.
Crews from the Witmer Fire Protective Association, Manheim Township Professional Firefighters, and the Lafayette Fire Company responded to the scene where one person was found trapped inside a pickup truck. Firefighters cut away the vehicle’s windshield, allowing the stuck individual to exit the truck.
While the person was able to walk from the scene, it is currently unknown if they sustained injuries. The cause of the collision remains unclear. First responders secured the area until the debris was cleared and the road was reopened.
Understanding Your Rights After a Truck Wreck and Entrapment in Pennsylvania
After a truck or severe collision, understanding how Pennsylvania law applies to your insurance claim is essential, even if injuries are not immediately apparent. PA operates under a modified comparative negligence rule, meaning your compensation is reduced by your degree of fault, and you cannot recover damages if you are more than 50% responsible.
Crucially, Pennsylvania drivers must choose between Full Tort and Limited Tort auto insurance coverage. Limited Tort restricts a person’s ability to sue for non-monetary losses, such as pain and suffering, unless they sustain a “serious injury.” Given the trauma of entrapment and the need for rescue, a serious injury claim is often necessary. Also, truck crashes frequently involve complex liability, potentially including the trucking company, cargo loaders, and maintenance crews.
