New York, NY (June 6, 2025) – A serious collision occurred on the New York State Thruway westbound near Exit 26 on June 6, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m. The crash involved a traffic stop of a Honda Odyssey, which was struck from behind by a tractor (not pulling a trailer), causing a chain reaction that resulted in the patrol vehicle also colliding with the Honda.
The Trooper, who was standing on the passenger side of the Honda during the stop, was thrown over the guiderail and down an embankment. The Trooper suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
The driver and passenger of the Honda sustained minor injuries and were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam.
The Thruway westbound at Exit 26 remains closed as investigations continue. Traffic will be diverted at Exit 26.
