[04-01-2025] – Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Being Struck on Dolson Avenue in Middletown

Middletown, NY – A pedestrian remains in critical condition after being hit by an SUV on the night of April 01 2025 in Middletown, according to New York State Police. The crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of Dolson Avenue and County Route 78.

The victim, a 31-year-old man from Wurtsboro, sustained severe injuries and was initially taken to Garnet Health Medical Center before being airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for advanced care. His name has not yet been released, and he remains in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

Lt. Jeffry Thoelen of the Middletown Police Department confirmed that the Middletown police assisted with emergency traffic control during the incident, diverting vehicles for more than two hours before Dolson Avenue was reopened.

According to preliminary findings from State Police Troop F, the driver of a 2014 Mazda SUV failed to yield the right of way and struck the pedestrian head-on. The driver remained at the scene following the crash and immediately called for emergency assistance.

As of now, no citations or charges have been reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
