Rochester, NY – Woman Killed After Vehicle Strikes Fire Truck

Rochester, NY (April 13, 2025) – A woman was killed and a man injured in a crash Sunday morning after their vehicle collided with a parked fire truck at the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Avenue D, according to Rochester Police.

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. as a black 2002 Volvo was travelling northbound on Hudson Avenue. Authorities say the vehicle ran a red light and struck the rear of a fire truck that was already on the scene for an unrelated call. The fire truck was unoccupied at the time, with its emergency lights activated.

The 35-year-old woman driving the Volvo was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead. Her 32-year-old passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is receiving treatment.

The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation, and it is not yet clear why the vehicle failed to stop at the red light.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the woman who lost her life and hope for a full recovery for the injured passenger.
