Syracuse, NY – Stolen Vehicle Chase Ends in Crash on Court St

Syracuse, NY (April 7, 2025) – A Mattydale man was arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle, leading officers on a pursuit, and crashing into a home in Syracuse, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 8:40 p.m., a caller reported that their 2018 Chrysler Pacifica had been stolen from the Dollar General parking lot in the Village of North Syracuse. North Syracuse Police officers responded and issued a regional alert for the stolen vehicle.
Around 9 p.m., a deputy patrolling near Wolf Street spotted a car matching the description. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, initiating a pursuit. Additional deputies and North Syracuse officers joined the chase.
Authorities said the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Sean Hill of Mattydale, eventually crashed the vehicle into the front porch of a home on Court Street, causing minor structural damage. Hill attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly after by law enforcement.
He was taken into custody by North Syracuse Police and charged with grand larceny in the 4th degree, unlawful fleeing of a police officer, multiple traffic violations, DWAI Drugs/Alcohol, and aggravated unlicensed operation in the 1st degree. Hill also had several active arrest warrants at the time of his arrest.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains active.
We commend law enforcement for their swift response in this incident.
