Medina, NY – Pedestrian Killed in Crosswalk Collision at West Ave and West Center St

Medina, NY (April 12, 2025) – A 55-year-old woman was struck and killed Saturday morning while using a marked crosswalk in the Village of Medina, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of West Avenue and West Center Street. Police say the woman, identified as Kellie Staschak of Medina, was crossing legally when a truck turning from West Center Street onto West Avenue struck her. The vehicle had a green light, but Ms. Staschak had the right-of-way in the crosswalk.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, but Ms. Staschak was pronounced dead shortly after. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. At this time, officials do not believe cellphone use contributed to the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities review surveillance footage, collect witness statements, and examine traffic patterns.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Kellie Staschak during this incredibly difficult time.
