[01-09-2025] – Worker Killed in Construction Accident at Murray Hill Site

Inwood, NY – At least five workers were injured Tuesday afternoon when a crane collapsed at a construction site in Manhattan’s Inwood neighborhood.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. near 207th Street and Ninth Avenue. Authorities said the crane, mounted on a truck parked alongside the site, snapped off at its base and fell.

One of the injured workers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the other four suffered minor injuries. All five were treated at the scene or transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

Witnesses reported that dozens of workers were present at the construction site at the time of the collapse.

It is unclear whether the gusty winds reported in the area played a role in the incident. Investigators from the Department of Buildings and other agencies remain on the scene to assess the cause and determine whether safety protocols were followed.
