Rosendale, NY – A New Paltz man has been charged in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash on Route 32 in Kingston, New York. The incident, which occurred Thursday evening, claimed the life of 37-year-old Victoria Cooper of Kingston.

New York State Police reported that the crash took place around 8:19 p.m. when Cooper entered the roadway and was struck by a northbound 2013 Toyota driven by Brenda Fisher, 74, also of Kingston. The impact pushed Cooper into the southbound lane, where she was struck again by a 2008 Subaru Forester driven by 24-year-old Alex B. Brown of New Paltz.

While Fisher remained at the scene and called 911, Brown fled. Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene by responding troopers.

On Friday, Brown was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including leaving the scene of a fatal accident. He was arraigned in Ulster County Centralized Arraignment and is being held in Ulster County Jail on bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
