Chemung, NY (May 27, 2025) – A serious motor vehicle crash occurred late Tuesday evening when a vehicle struck a residence at 959 Dry Brook Road in the town of Chemung. The incident, which resulted in injuries to two residents, prompted a swift response from the New York State Police and local emergency services.
At approximately 9:25 p.m., the New York State Police in SP Horseheads responded to reports of the crash. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 Toyota Tundra, operated by 43-year-old Terry Lynn Murray of Lockwood, NY, had been involved in a police pursuit initiated by the Sayre Borough Police Department in Pennsylvania. The pursuit was terminated after the vehicle crossed into New York State.
The vehicle subsequently crashed into the occupied residence. Emergency responders worked to extricate two residents, Connie A. Miller, 71, who sustained serious internal injuries and was transported to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, and John J. Miller, 76, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Murray was arrested at the scene and charged with several offenses, including Vehicular Assault 1st, Driving While Intoxicated – Prior Conviction within 10 Years, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st. He was arraigned and remanded to Chemung County Jail on bail.
