Buffalo, NY - One Dead in Rollover Crash on County Route 7B in Rushford

Buffalo, NY (Sept. 24, 2026) – One person died following a rollover crash on County Route 7B in Rushford, in Allegany County, on Thursday afternoon.

According to New York State Police, the crash happened around 12:30 p.m. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they are still investigating and that more details will be released at a later time.

No other information about the crash, including its cause, is available at this moment.

Single-vehicle rollovers can result from a wide range of causes: a tire failure, a steering or suspension problem, an obstacle or defect in the road, a driver swerving to avoid an animal, or another vehicle forcing a driver off the road without ever making contact. Until investigators release more information, the cause of this crash is unknown.

Wrongful Death Claims After a Single-Vehicle Rollover

Single-vehicle rollovers often leave grieving families with more questions than answers. Sometimes a driver simply loses control on their own, and no one else bears any responsibility. Other times, something outside the driver’s control causes the rollover altogether: a defective tire, a steering or suspension failure, a poorly maintained road, a missing guardrail, or another vehicle that forces a driver off the road without ever making contact.

When a cause like this is found, New York law may allow the personal representative of a driver’s estate to bring a wrongful death claim. Depending on what caused the crash, that claim could be against a vehicle manufacturer, a government agency responsible for maintaining the road, or another driver entirely.

Evidence in these cases does not last. A damaged vehicle gets scrapped, a dangerous stretch of road gets repaved, and witnesses’ memories fade with time. The earlier an attorney gets involved, the more of that evidence is still there to examine.
