Rochester, NY - Two-Car Crash at Route 104 and Carter Street; Driver Flees the Scene

Rochester, NY (Sept. 26, 2026) – Two cars collided at the intersection of Route 104 and Carter Street in Rochester on Saturday, and one of the drivers left the scene on foot.

According to Rochester Police, no injuries were reported at the scene. Photos from the scene showed significant front-end damage to one vehicle, with airbags deployed, and significant passenger-side damage to the other. Neither driver was later found at a nearby hospital or urgent care. The investigation remains ongoing.

The fact that no injuries were reported does not mean no one was hurt. Soft tissue injuries, concussions, and other common crash injuries do not always show symptoms right away, and adrenaline in the moments after a crash can mask pain that becomes apparent only hours or days later.

Personal Injury Accidents in Rochester, NY

Rochester sees thousands of car accidents every year, ranging from minor fender-benders to serious multi-vehicle crashes, and not every one of them is reported with confirmed injuries at the scene. Adrenaline can mask pain in the immediate aftermath, and injuries like whiplash, concussions, and soft tissue damage often do not show symptoms until hours or days later.

If you were in this crash, or any accident in the Rochester area, and started feeling pain, stiffness, headaches, or other symptoms afterward, it is worth seeing a doctor even if you felt fine at the time. A medical record created soon after a crash can matter a great deal if you later decide to pursue a claim.

A driver who leaves the scene, as one did here, adds real complications for anyone later found to be hurt. Identifying and holding that driver accountable typically requires a formal police report and any available surveillance or dashcam footage from nearby businesses, evidence that is far easier to gather soon after a crash than months later. New York law allows injured drivers to pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering, even when the original report says no injuries were reported at the scene.
