Rochester, NY (Sept 1, 2026) – Three people were taken to the hospital after a shared scooter and a motorcycle collided in Rochester on Tuesday night.
According to Rochester Police, the crash happened around 8:25 p.m. at the intersection of Dr. Samuel McCree Way and Genesee Street. Officers say a Veo rental scooter, carrying two riders, collided with a “dirt bike” style motorcycle. All three people involved, the two scooter riders and the motorcyclist, were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The motorcycle was towed from the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Collisions between smaller, lighter vehicles like scooters and motorcycles can be unpredictable. Neither offers much protection to its rider, and both can be harder for other drivers, and each other, to spot in time to react.
Legal Rights After a Scooter or Motorcycle Accident in New York
A crash like this raises real questions for everyone involved. When two smaller vehicles collide at an intersection, fault often comes down to right of way: who had a green light or a stop sign, and each rider’s speed and position in the moments before the collision.
If you or someone you love was hurt in this crash, or in a similar collision involving a scooter, motorcycle, or bike, and you believe you were not the one who caused it, New York law may allow you to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering. New York also follows a comparative negligence rule, which means that even a rider who shares some responsibility for a crash can often still recover a portion of damages.
An experienced Rochester motorcycle attorney can review the police report once it is complete, track down witnesses or nearby camera footage, and help sort out what actually happened, so you are not held responsible for more than your fair share.
