Town of Hounsfield, NY (Sept 18, 2026) – A Sackets Harbor woman was taken to the hospital after a crash at the intersection of State Route 3 and County Route 66 in the town of Hounsfield, and the other driver involved has since died.
According to New York State Police, the crash happened around 4:49 p.m. on September 18. Troopers say an 83-year-old woman from New Hartford was driving a 2016 Honda Fit north on County Route 66, attempting to cross State Route 3 to reach State Route 180, when she failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the path of a 2024 Honda CR-V. The CR-V, driven by a 55-year-old Sackets Harbor woman, was traveling east on Route 3 at the time.
Both women were taken to Samaritan Medical Center. The Honda Fit’s driver was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
