27-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured in Motorcycle Crash

Webster, NY (June 23, 2026) – A 27-year-old woman was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital in critical and unstable condition after an SUV struck her motorcycle on Bay Road near Sunningdale Rise in Webster on Tuesday night, according to Webster Police.

Webster Police say the SUV was turning left onto Bay Road, heading south, when it collided with the motorcycle, which was traveling north. The motorcyclist was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital following the crash.

The New York State Police and Webster Police are both investigating the crash. No additional details about the other driver have been released.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

A left-turn collision that sends a rider to the hospital in critical condition raises serious questions about who had the right of way — and who will be held responsible for what comes next.

Motorcycle Accidents on Upstate New York Roads

Left-turn crashes are among the most common and most preventable causes of serious motorcycle injuries. When a driver turns left across the path of an oncoming motorcyclist, the law typically places responsibility on the turning driver to yield. What investigators and attorneys look at in cases like this one:

  • Whether the SUV driver had a clear line of sight and sufficient time to complete the turn safely
  • Traffic control devices at or near the intersection, and whether any were disregarded
  • The motorcyclist’s speed and lane position at the time of impact
  • Witness statements, surveillance or traffic camera footage, and physical evidence at the scene

New York follows a comparative fault standard, which means a motorcyclist may still recover compensation even if investigators find some contributing factor on her part — provided she was not more than 50% at fault. Fault percentage directly affects any final award, which is why early evidence preservation matters.

Under New York law, a personal injury claim must be filed within three years of the date of injury (CPLR § 214). For a crash that occurred on June 23, 2026, that deadline falls on June 23, 2029. Insurance companies move quickly after a crash. The other driver’s insurer may contact the family before that deadline feels urgent — and an early statement can affect the outcome of any claim.
