Frailey Township, PA (October 20, 2025) – Scott McAlpine, 61, of Maine, was killed Sunday night after his pickup truck veered off Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
The crash occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. on October 19th, 2025, as McAlpine was driving northbound on I-81 in Frailey Township. Investigators say his pickup truck left the roadway via the left shoulder, traveling through the grass median before striking a grass and rock embankment.
The vehicle then became airborne and landed beneath the twin bridges of Route 25 (Shermans Mountain Road). Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but McAlpine was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, police said.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, though no other vehicles were involved.
Single-Vehicle Crashes in Pennsylvania
Even in single-vehicle accidents, there may be contributing factors such as road design issues, mechanical failures, or hazardous conditions. Under Pennsylvania law, families of fatal crash victims may pursue compensation through insurance claims or potential wrongful death actions if another party’s negligence contributed to the incident. An experienced Pennsylvania motor-vehicle accident attorney can help identify liability and secure justice for the victim’s loved ones.
