Fishkill, NY – A collision involving a police patrol vehicle resulted in injuries to three individuals in Fishkill on Sunday afternoon. The New York State Police reported that the accident took place around 3:45 p.m. on Route 52.
A Fishkill Police patrol car was heading westbound, with its emergency lights and sirens activated, when it struck another vehicle that was trying to turn across traffic. The vehicle involved was driven by 20-year-old Askya R. Paulin, a resident of Beacon, who was also traveling west on Route 52 with a passenger.
As other vehicles yielded to the police patrol car, Paulin made an attempt to pass them and then executed a left turn across the westbound lane, moving into the eastbound lane. This caused Paulin’s vehicle to be directly in the path of the oncoming police vehicle, leading to a collision on the driver’s side of Paulin’s car.
Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene and treated all three individuals involved in the accident, which included Paulin, his passenger, and the Fishkill police officer, for minor injuries. Following the incident, Paulin received several tickets related to vehicle and traffic violations.
