Hastings, NY – Authorities have identified the young pedestrian critically injured in Monday’s crash outside Central Square Middle School as 12-year-old Aunamarie Mahnken. The collision occurred around 2:44 PM on March 31, 2025, along US Route 11 in front of the school, according to New York State Police.
Troopers confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that Mahnken remains in critical condition at Upstate Medical University Hospital, nearly 24 hours after the incident. She suffered serious injuries after being struck by a southbound vehicle while walking home from school.
First responders provided immediate aid at the scene before transporting her to the hospital.
