Update on Fatal Collision – Everett Road near I-90, Albany
Police have identified the man killed Tuesday in a car crash on Everett Road near the Interstate 90 exit ramp. The victim, Mardon, 34, was found inside his vehicle just before 6 p.m. He was treated at the scene and transported to Albany Medical Center, where he later died.
Police report that Mardon was exiting the I-90 highway onto Everett Road when his vehicle was struck by a car heading north on Everett Road, driven by Matthew Merriman, 29, of Rotterdam. Merriman is accused of driving under the influence at the time of the crash and was taken into custody. He faces charges including second-degree vehicular manslaughter, DUI, reckless criminal mischief, and multiple traffic violations.
