Broome County, NY (April 9, 2025) – Multiple minor vehicle crashes were reported Wednesday afternoon at the I-86/Route 17 East and I-81 North interchange, according to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities confirmed several minor collisions occurred on I-81 Northbound near Exit 5. Cleanup operations temporarily closed a section of I-81 North earlier in the afternoon, though the roadway has since been reopened.
Additional minor crashes were also reported along I-86/Route 17 East near Exit 71 North, where traffic backups contributed to the incidents.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area while crews worked to clear the roadway.
