Canandaigua, NY (May 10, 2025) – A Rochester man was seriously injured Saturday night when his race car flipped during an event at the Ontario County Fairgrounds and Racetrack.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, 53-year-old Gilbert Tegg Jr. was driving a modified-style race car when it struck an orange safety barrier head-on, causing the vehicle to roll over. The crash occurred around 10:00 p.m.
Emergency crews from the Canandaigua Fire Department and EMS responded quickly. Tegg Jr. was extricated from the wreckage and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. He is being treated for back and neck injuries, along with possible broken bones.
The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the cause of the crash.
