Monroe, NY (August 28, 2025) – A Chester man was killed Thursday afternoon in a one-car crash on Route 17 in the town of Monroe. The accident occurred near Exit 130A just before 1 p.m.

According to New York State Police, a 2011 Mazda traveling west on Route 17 was observed by witnesses leaving the right lane and entering the left lane. The vehicle then swerved back to the right, re-entered the lane, and ultimately left the roadway, continuing into a wooded area along the shoulder of the highway.

Troopers responded promptly to the scene and confirmed the driver was pronounced dead. Further details about the cause of the crash are under investigation.
