Clay, NY (July 03, 2025) – A two-car crash occurred Thursday afternoon in the town of Clay, resulting in one person being taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Around 4:09 p.m., Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash at the intersection of Oswego and Wetzel roads. Authorities said the driver of an SUV, identified as 32-year-old Connor J. Weakley of Liverpool, struck one vehicle, then fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Weakley ran a red light, hitting another car, and ultimately ended up in a ditch in front of Avicolli’s restaurant.
The driver of the second vehicle involved was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and reported back pain. Weakley sustained an abrasion to his arm but did not require hospitalization. The driver of the first vehicle was unharmed.
Law enforcement is continuing its investigation into the incident.
