Hopewell, NY (August 13, 2025) – A man was killed Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Hopewell, Ontario County. Deputies responded around 7:00 a.m. to Routes 5 & 20 near Mumby Road after barking dogs alerted a homeowner to a vehicle that had crashed through trees on their property.

Authorities found the lone occupant dead inside the vehicle. Preliminary reports indicate that speed may have been a contributing factor. Sheriff David Cirencione noted that the crash occurred near a curve and that investigators are reviewing all possible causes, including whether the driver lost control or fell asleep.

The identity of the driver has not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
