Rochester, NY – A fatal head-on crash early Wednesday morning in northeast Rochester claimed the life of one man and left a woman seriously injured, according to the Rochester Police Department. The collision occurred around 12:15 AM on Wednesday, at the intersection of Clifford Avenue and Sixth Street.
Authorities reported that a westbound vehicle, driven by a woman in her 30s, crossed into the eastbound lane of Clifford Avenue, resulting in a violent head-on collision with an eastbound vehicle operated by a 58-year-old man.
Both vehicles sustained severe front-end damage from the impact.
Emergency crews arrived promptly and transported both drivers to Strong Memorial Hospital. The male driver tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The woman remains hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
At this time, the identities of both drivers have not been released, pending notification of their families.
The Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances of the crash. No charges have been filed as of Wednesday morning.
