LaFayette, NY (July 26, 2025) – A 28-year-old motorcyclist, Austin E. Leonard of LaFayette, is in critical condition following a crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 81 northbound on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Leonard was transported to Upstate University Hospital after being ejected from his 2008 Harley Davidson.
The complex incident began around 7:38 a.m. when a Peterbilt tractor-trailer, driven by Sean M. Ayers, 42, suffered a tire blowout and began to slow down. Simultaneously, a second tractor-trailer, driven by Barbara L. Armstrong, 66, was overtaking Ayers’ truck in the passing lane.
