Long Island, NY (June 29, 2025) – A crash involving a coach bus and seven other vehicles occurred Sunday night on the Long Island Expressway, injuring five people.
The incident took place on the westbound lanes near Exit 42. According to police, the coach bus was carrying 20 passengers at the time of the crash. Five passengers were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries, while the remaining passengers were transferred to another coach bus by the Jericho Fire Department.
Crews worked for over two hours to clear the wreckage, during which time all westbound lanes of the LIE were closed. Video from the scene showed significant traffic congestion and a pileup of vehicles.
No additional injuries were reported from the other vehicles involved. Nassau police are still investigating the cause of the crash, though it was not immediately clear on Sunday night.
