25-Year-Old Killed After Car Strikes Parked Tractor-Trailer on I-476

Luzerne County, PA (April 21, 2026) – Yosef Loriner, a 25-year-old man, was killed when his 2024 Toyota Corolla struck a parked tractor-trailer on Interstate 476 North Tuesday night, prompting emergency responders and the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office to the scene.

The fatal collision occurred around 8:15 p.m. near the Wyoming Valley Exit in Pittston Township, part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Northeast Extension. Loriner was traveling northbound when his vehicle left its lane and entered the shoulder, where a commercial tractor-trailer was temporarily parked. The car struck the rear of the truck and quickly caught fire.

The truck driver attempted to reach Loriner but was unable to help due to the intensity of the flames. Loriner was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Pennsylvania State Police are leading the investigation into what caused the deadly crash. The circumstances that led Loriner’s vehicle to leave the roadway have not been disclosed.

Additional details are expected to be released as the investigation continues.

Wrongful Death Claims After Fatal Crashes on Pennsylvania Highways

When a loved one is killed in a crash on a high-speed Pennsylvania highway such as I-476, surviving family members may have the right to pursue compensation through a wrongful death and survival action under Pennsylvania law. These claims can cover funeral and burial expenses, loss of the victim’s future earnings, and the profound loss of companionship suffered by those left behind. Pennsylvania’s statute of limitations gives families just two years from the date of death to file a claim, making it critical to act promptly.

Pennsylvania follows a modified comparative negligence standard, meaning families may still recover damages as long as the deceased was not more than 50 percent at fault for the crash. Preserving evidence, including any available surveillance footage, vehicle data, and witness accounts, is time-sensitive and essential to building a strong case. Because fatal highway crashes often involve complex liability questions, consulting with an experienced Pennsylvania wrongful death attorney as soon as possible can help families protect their rights and ensure that critical evidence is not lost.
