Malta, NY (July 17, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash occurred early Thursday morning around 1:00 a.m. on the northbound lanes of I-87, near Exit 12 in Malta, involving a tractor-trailer and a commercial vehicle.
The crash, which took place in the area of a line painting operation, resulted in non-life-threatening injuries for both drivers, who were transported to a local hospital. One of the vehicles involved was a contractor vehicle, not a DOT vehicle.
Authorities closed the left two lanes of northbound traffic while cleanup efforts continued. As of 6:22 a.m., the right lane was reopened, though traffic delays persisted in the area.
The New York State Police and other responders are actively investigating the cause of the crash.
We wish for a swift recovery for those injured and appreciate the patience of drivers during this disruption.
