Motorcyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Route 5 in Elbridge

Elbridge, NY – A motorcyclist sustained injuries early Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on Route 5 in the town of Elbridge. The incident occurred around 5:59 AM on March 31, 2025, according to New York State Police.

Troopers responded to the scene at 488 Route 5, where they found 26-year-old Kaheed S. Oxendene of Elbridge laying in the roadway. Investigators determined that Oxendene was traveling west on his motorcycle when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 70-year-old Edward F. Lawyer of Syracuse, left the scene following the collision. Oxendene was transported to Upstate Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.

Lawyer was later located and issued uniform traffic tickets for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. He is scheduled to appear in Elbridge Town Court at a later date.

State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
