Update on Fatal Motorcycle Accident
The deceased motorcycle operator has been identified as Michael J. Landry, 65, of Ellington, Connecticut.
The driver of the Porsche has been identified as Harold Haber, 85, of Niskayuna, New York.
Canaan, NY (October 6, 2025) – A fatal motorcycle crash occurred Sunday afternoon, October 5th, 2025, on State Route 22 in the town of Canaan. The accident involved a 2014 Harley-Davidson traveling northbound and a 2024 Porsche attempting a left turn southbound.
Preliminary investigation by State Police New Lebanon revealed that the Porsche failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle. The Harley-Davidson operator was ejected and airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the Porsche was transported to Berkshire Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The identity of the deceased motorcycle operator is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. The crash remains under active investigation to determine contributing factors and the full sequence of events.
Authorities advise drivers to use caution in the area while the investigation continues.
