Seven Students Hospitalized After School Bus and Van Crash

New City, NY (October 23, 2025) – Seven students were taken to local hospitals after a school bus and van collided Wednesday morning, 22nd October, 2025, on Germonds Road in New City, according to local authorities.

The crash occurred between Gerlach Road and Germonds Presbyterian Church, while the school bus was headed eastbound to Rockland BOCES. Officials said the van, traveling west, for unknown reasons, crossed into the eastbound lane, resulting in the collision.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to assess the students and other occupants. While no serious injuries were reported, seven students were transported to area hospitals for medical evaluation as a precaution.

Germonds Road was temporarily closed following the crash, but has since reopened after cleanup and investigation were completed.

The cause of the collision remains under review by local law enforcement.

School Bus Accidents and Safety in New York

School bus collisions, even when minor, can result in serious trauma or delayed injuries for young passengers. New York law requires a thorough investigation of such crashes to determine liability, whether due to driver error, road conditions, or mechanical failure. Parents whose children are injured in bus-related crashes may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, emotional distress, and other damages. Consulting a New York personal injury attorney can help ensure these rights are protected.
