New Hyde Park, NY (July 11, 2025) – A 15-year-old teenager was killed Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle while fleeing from police in New Hyde Park.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. after the teenager, a robbery suspect, led officers on a pursuit from Queens to New Hyde Park. The suspect had allegedly committed a robbery at knifepoint on Hillside Avenue in Queens, and when officers attempted to stop him, he fled on an e-bike.
The teenager was struck by a 2015 Lexus SUV at the intersection of Lakeville Road and Bryant Avenue. The suspect sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The driver of the Lexus, 28-year-old Ruyan Ali, was arrested after fleeing the scene. He was charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
