Ogden, NY (Sept 7, 2026) – Five people were taken to the URMC Trauma Center after a two-car crash in the town of Ogden on Monday afternoon.
According to the Spencerport Fire District and Ogden Police, the crash happened just before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Union Street and Stony Point Road. Firefighters extricated three people from one car and two people from the other before all five were taken to the hospital.
An 88-year-old woman from Chili is listed in critical condition. The four other people involved are expected to be released from the hospital.
Police say drug and alcohol involvement has been ruled out, and that failure to yield the right of way appears to be a primary contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet clear which driver failed to yield.
Failure-to-yield crashes are among the most common causes of serious intersection collisions. Even a brief misjudgment about when it is safe to go can put a vehicle directly in another driver’s path, leaving little time for anyone to react.
What Are Your Legal Rights After a Failure-to-Yield Crash in New York?
A crash like this raises real questions for everyone involved, especially with five people affected and one in critical condition. When failure to yield is identified as a contributing factor, working out exactly who had the right of way, and who failed to observe it, is often the central issue in determining fault.
If you or someone you love was hurt in this crash, or in a similar collision, and you believe you were not the one who failed to yield, New York law may allow you to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering. Given how serious some of these injuries are, that compensation can matter enormously for a family facing large medical bills or a long recovery.
An experienced car accident attorney in Upstate NY can review the full police investigation once it concludes, gather witness statements and any available camera footage from nearby businesses or homes, and make sure your side of the story is heard clearly as fault gets sorted out.
