One Dead One Injured in Suspected Homicide Crash on Clifford Avenue in Rochester

Rochester, NY – A head-on crash early Wednesday morning on the city’s north side left one man dead and another individual seriously injured. Rochester Police are investigating the incident, which occurred near the intersection of Clifford Avenue and Sixth Street, as a potential homicide.

According to investigators, the crash took place around 12:15 a.m. when a westbound vehicle reportedly crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with another car. Both drivers were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Tragically, the 58-year-old man driving the eastbound vehicle died from his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification.

The driver of the westbound car, identified only as a woman in her 30s, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She remains hospitalized as of Wednesday morning.

Rochester Police Department officials stated the case is now being treated as a homicide investigation. Officers and investigators with the Major Crimes Unit are reviewing all available evidence, including vehicle data and possible surveillance footage. No charges have been announced as of this report.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life in this tragic crash. We also hope for a full and swift recovery for the surviving driver.
