Painted Post, NY (April 19, 2024) – A 19-year-old man tragically lost his life Saturday afternoon after being struck by a pickup truck while riding an e-bike on Victory Highway, according to the New York State Police.
The crash occurred just after noon near the intersection of Victory Highway and Robert Dann Drive. Authorities say the teenager entered the highway from a nearby property without yielding to an eastbound pickup truck. The truck driver was not injured in the collision.
Emergency personnel airlifted the teen to Guthrie Corning Hospital via Guthrie Air, where he was later pronounced dead.
Victory Highway was closed for several hours following the crash to allow for a thorough investigation. Officials continue to examine the incident and have not released the name of the deceased.
