Rochester, NY – Ages 32 and 59: Two Drivers Hospitalized After Car Flips in Two-Vehicle Crash at Dewey Avenue

Two Drivers Hospitalized After Car Flips

Rochester, NY (May 30, 2026) – A 32-year-old Rochester resident and a 59-year-old non-city resident were both transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a two-car crash Saturday afternoon at Dewey Avenue and West Ridge Road, which left one vehicle flipped upside down, according to the initial reports.

Officers say the 32-year-old was driving north on Dewey Avenue when they attempted to turn right into a parking lot, colliding with the 59-year-old who was driving south on Dewey Avenue. The impact caused the 32-year-old driver’s vehicle to flip upside down. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Investigators noted that drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been contributing factors in the crash. The Rochester Police Department is handling the investigation.

Your Legal Rights After a Car Accident in Rochester

When a vehicle flips during a collision, injuries can be far more serious than they first appear. Rollover crashes often involve spinal trauma, head injuries, broken bones, and soft tissue damage that may not be fully apparent in the hours immediately following the accident.

Who may be responsible:

  • The driver who attempted the right turn, if the maneuver was made unsafely or without yielding to oncoming traffic
  • Either driver, if traffic control devices were ignored or applicable rules of the road were violated
  • A municipality, if road design, signage, or visibility conditions at the intersection contributed to the crash
  • A vehicle manufacturer or maintenance provider, if a mechanical defect played a role

What attorneys and investigators examine:

  • Police incident and crash reconstruction reports from the Rochester Police Department
  • Surveillance or traffic camera footage from the Dewey Avenue and West Ridge Road area
  • Skid marks, vehicle resting positions, and physical damage patterns
  • Witness statements from bystanders or nearby business employees
  • Both drivers’ speed, signaling, and right-of-way at the time of the turn
  • Medical records documenting the full extent of injuries sustained by both drivers

Important deadline:

  • In New York, personal injury claims from a car accident must generally be filed within three years of the crash date. Evidence can disappear quickly. A Rochester car accident lawyer can preserve critical evidence and protect your rights before that window closes.
