Rochester, NY (July 02, 2025) – A 10-year-old boy was injured Tuesday evening after running into the path of a car on Bernard St, according to the Rochester Police Department.
At around 7:00 p.m., the child was playing outside with friends when he suddenly ran into the street and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver, a 50-year-old woman, attempted to avoid the boy but was unable to stop in time. Police confirmed that the driver was not impaired, showed no signs of recklessness, and fully cooperated with authorities. No citations were issued.
Emergency responders quickly treated the injured child at the scene before transporting him to Strong Memorial Hospital. He is recovering from a non-life-threatening injury to his lower body and is expected to fully recover. The child’s name has not been released.
Rochester Police are urging parents and guardians to supervise children near roadways and ensure they cross with adult assistance to prevent similar accidents.
