Rochester, NY (July 30, 2025) – A Rochester Police officer was injured in a crash Wednesday night on Mount Read Boulevard at its intersection with Lexington Avenue, according to police.
Authorities say a marked RPD vehicle, occupied by a single officer, was traveling southbound on Mount Read Boulevard when a Chevrolet Equinox struck it. The Equinox, driven by a 33-year-old Rochester man, was traveling eastbound on Lexington Avenue and failed to stop for a red light. The collision caused the police vehicle to hit a utility pole, resulting in significant damage.
The driver of the Equinox fled the scene, but police later located the driver and vehicle near Lexington Avenue and Christopher Court. The driver was uninjured and was issued several citations. The police officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to the upper body.
Our thoughts are with the injured officer and their family, and we hope for a swift and full recovery.
