Rochester, NY (July 13, 2025) – Three people were critically injured Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Avenue and Union Street.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. when a white BMW, driven by a 37-year-old woman, ran a red light while traveling northbound on Union Street at a high speed. The BMW collided with a blue van that was crossing the intersection with a green light. The impact redirected the van northbound, causing it to strike a green wagon that was stationary.
Emergency crews transported three individuals to Strong Memorial Hospital with critical injuries. However, their conditions were later downgraded to non-life-threatening. The BMW driver sustained minor injuries and cooperated with the investigation.
Police confirmed that speed was a factor in the crash, but the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Citations are expected to be issued, though specific charges are still under review.
The intersection has since reopened to traffic.
