Town of Adams, NY (Aug 22, 2026) – A 17-year-old girl from Rodman has died following a motorcycle crash in the town of Adams over the weekend.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Fuller Road and Caird Road. Officials say Kaylee McWayne was riding her motorcycle on Fuller Road when a pickup truck driven by Lewis Robertson of Watertown turned left from Caird Road into her path.
McWayne collided with the truck and died from her injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
What Are Your Legal Rights After Losing a Child in a Motorcycle Accident?
There is no harder loss than losing a child, and nothing in this article can make sense of why this happened to Kaylee McWayne’s family. If you are her parent, sibling, or another loved one trying to figure out what comes next, you are not alone, and you do not have to make any decisions today.
Under New York law, a parent or other personal representative of Kaylee’s estate may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver responsible for the crash. This type of claim can help recover funeral and burial costs along with compensation tied to the loss the family has suffered. New York law also generally requires a driver turning left, like the pickup truck involved here, to yield to oncoming traffic, including motorcycles, until the turn can be completed safely.
An experienced motorcycle accident attorney in Upstate NY request the full police report, preserve evidence before it disappears, and speak with witnesses while memories are still fresh, so your family does not have to relive this while also chasing down paperwork.
