Summerhill, NY (July 08, 2025) – One person is dead, and another is in stable condition following a serious crash on State Route 90 in Cayuga County on Tuesday evening, according to the New York State Police.
At around 5:00 p.m., officers responded to the scene where a 2017 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck had lost control, exited the roadway, and overturned. The driver, a 51-year-old male, was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, 47-year-old Lawanda H. Eaton of Cortland, NY, had no apparent injuries and was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where she remains in stable condition.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded to process the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and the New York State Police were assisted by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the Locke Fire Department.
