Update on Fatal Accident on I-787
New York State Police have identified one of the victims of the fatal wrong-way crash on I-787 in Albany on Sunday. The northbound driver has been confirmed as Eric Hurley, 38, of Albany. He sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wrong-way driver involved in the head-on collision was taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized as of Monday, according to State Police.
State Police also reported that an Albany woman was arrested on Monday in connection with a separate crash on I-787 on Sunday, which resulted in two fatalities. No charges or arrests have been announced for the wrong-way driver in the initial crash. Investigations into both incidents remain ongoing.

Albany, NY (October 13, 2025) – A fatal wrong-way crash on I-787 led to the discovery of a second fatal crash on Sunday morning, October 12, 2025. Around 7 a.m., while investigating the initial crash, New York State Police discovered a vehicle off the road down an embankment of I-787 southbound near Exit 5 in Albany.
Three individuals were located inside the vehicle, all with severe injuries. Two of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was transported to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries.
The investigation revealed that the driver of the wrong-way vehicle collided with another vehicle, leading to this tragic crash. The names of the victims have not been released pending notification of family members.
In a separate incident, State Police also investigated another fatal crash that occurred earlier in the morning, where a driver died after crashing on I-787. Both incidents are still under investigation, and authorities are reviewing evidence from the crash sites.
The I-90 Exit 6A off-ramps to I-787 southbound were closed for several hours due to the investigation, but are expected to reopen by 1:30 p.m.
