Pedestrian struck, killed

A 60-year-old man was tragically killed Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle along Route 6 in Dickson City.

According to the Lackawanna County Coroner’s Office, the pedestrian was walking westbound when a vehicle struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family members.

The westbound lanes of Route 6 were shut down for several hours as Dickson City Police and Pennsylvania State Police conducted their investigation. The roadway reopened around 8 p.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Pedestrian Fatalities on Pennsylvania Highways

Pedestrians struck on high-speed corridors like Route 6 often suffer catastrophic injuries due to limited visibility and reaction time for drivers. Under Pennsylvania law, families may have grounds for a wrongful death claim if negligence, such as speeding, distraction, or failure to maintain a safe lookout, contributed to the crash.

Early legal guidance helps preserve evidence, navigate insurance challenges, and secure compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other losses.
