Somerset County, PA – 7-Year-Old Boy Struck by Car While Boarding School Bus on Seanor Road

Boy, 7, struck by car

Somerset County, PA (November 12, 2025) – A 7-year-old boy was hit by a car while crossing Seanor Road to board a school bus in Conemaugh Township Wednesday morning, according to Conemaugh Township Police.

Officials say the school bus had its yellow warning lights flashing and was slowing down to stop when the child entered the roadway and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. A nearby paramedic immediately rendered aid before first responders arrived on the scene.

The child was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, where he remains under observation. His grandmother confirmed that he is “doing alright” but will stay in the hospital overnight for monitoring.

Conemaugh Township School District Superintendent Nicole Dull stated that officials plan to review safety protocols and discuss additional preventative measures following the incident.

Neighbors say Seanor Road’s blind curves make it especially dangerous for pedestrians.

The Conemaugh Township Police Department continues to investigate the incident, including whether speed or driver inattention played a role.

School Bus Safety and Driver Responsibility in Pennsylvania

Under Pennsylvania law, drivers must stop at least 10 feet away from a school bus displaying its flashing red lights and extended stop arm. Failing to do so can result in severe penalties, including fines, license suspension, and criminal charges if a pedestrian is injured.

When a child is struck while boarding or exiting a school bus, the injured family may be eligible to pursue compensation for medical costs, emotional distress, and long-term care. A Pennsylvania pedestrian accident lawyer can help determine liability and protect the child’s legal rights.
