Yeadon, PA – Firefighter Injured in Church Lane Hit-and-Run Crash

Firefighter Injured in Church Lane Hit-and-Run Crash

Yeadon, PA (December 29, 2025) โ€“ Authorities in Delaware County are searching for a driver who fled the scene after striking a local firefighter Monday evening. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on the 600 block of Church Lane in Yeadon.

The victim, identified as a male in his 30s and a member of the Yeadon Fire Company, was reportedly on or near the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver involved did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area. Emergency responders treated the firefighter at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation. While his current condition has not been updated by officials, the Yeadon Police Department is actively reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses to identify the make and model of the fleeing vehicle.

Legal Rights and Protections for First Responders in Hit-and-Run Accidents

Hit-and-run accidents involving first responders carry significant legal weight in Pennsylvania. Under the stateโ€™s Crimes Code, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury is a serious offense that can escalate to a felony depending on the severity of the harm caused. For a firefighter injured while on or off duty, identifying the perpetrator is the first step toward a recovery that covers medical bills, rehabilitation, and potential lost wages. Because the driver fled, the victim may also be eligible to file a claim through their own “Uninsured Motorist” (UM) coverage, which is specifically designed to protect individuals when the at-fault party cannot be identified or lacks insurance.
