Philadelphia, PA – Four Injured After Smart Car T-bones Police Cruiser

Smart Car T-bones Police Cruiser

Philadelphia, PA (December 5, 2025) – Four people, including two Philadelphia police officers, were injured and taken to the hospital early Friday morning following a two-vehicle crash in the city’s Hunting Park neighborhood.

The collision occurred around 2 a.m. on the 4200 block of North Reese Street, just off Hunting Park Avenue. A gray Smart car, carrying two women, T-boned the driver’s side of a police patrol SUV.

Police Chief Inspector Scott Small reported that the two women in the Smart car sustained head and facial injuries. The officer driving the patrol SUV reported facial injuries, and the officer in the passenger seat experienced pain. All four individuals were transported to a nearby hospital and listed in stable condition. Chief Small confirmed the officers were searching for a suspect in a domestic assault incident at the time of the crash, but their lights and sirens were not activated.

Navigating Liability When a Police Vehicle is Involved in a T-Bone Crash

Accidents involving municipal vehicles require a specialized legal approach, particularly concerning the issue of governmental immunity and liability standards. The fact that the police officers were searching for a suspect but did not have their emergency lights or sirens activated is a critical factor in determining fault for the T-bone crash.
