Town of Pamelia, NY (September 20, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash on Route 283 in Jefferson County on Friday morning sent a Watertown man to the hospital. The crash occurred around 7:50 a.m, September 19th, 2025.
Sheriff’s deputies reported that 24-year-old Gavin Currey of Watertown rear-ended a manure truck, causing his vehicle to spin into the oncoming lane and collide with a 42-year-old driver, Edsel Enriquez-Lopez of Calcium, operating an SUV. The driver of the manure truck, 27-year-old Andrew Gockley of Carthage, and Enriquez-Lopez were uninjured.
Currey was taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown for evaluation as a precaution. Authorities cited him for following too closely.
The cause of the crash remains under review, and emergency responders ensured the scene was cleared promptly. Traffic was briefly disrupted while crews worked to manage the incident.
