Kirkwood, NY (June 24, 2025) – Three people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on State Route 11 near the Conklin-Kirkwood Bridge, according to New York State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. when Denise M. Ellis of Binghamton, NY, was operating a Hyundai on State Route 11 and attempted to make a left turn. Authorities say Ellis failed to yield the right of way to a northbound Ford, resulting in a collision that caused the Ford to roll over.
Ellis and two individuals from the Ford, identified as driver Nora Mary Gibson, age 73, and a 74-year-old male passenger, both from Catawissa, PA, were transported to Wilson Medical Center for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. A 44-year-old male passenger in Ellis’ vehicle, from Conklin, NY, did not report any injuries at the scene.
Ellis was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield the right of way.
The incident remains under investigation by New York State Police.
We extend our best wishes to those injured and hope for their full and swift recovery.
Car Crash Claims in NY
Severe car crashes are frequent across Upstate New York, especially on major highways like I-81, I-88, and Route 6. In these regions, snow, ice, low visibility, and aggressive trucking traffic lead to high rates of highway collisions and fatalities. Local cities, such as Binghamton, Elmira, and Syracuse, continue to report rising numbers of motor vehicle accidents, particularly during the winter months.
Under New York’s no-fault insurance system, your basic medical expenses and lost wages are covered regardless of fault. However, if you suffer a serious injury, you may step outside the no-fault system and file a lawsuit against the at-fault driver for additional damages such as pain and suffering.
New York law gives you three years from the date of the accident to file a personal injury lawsuit. Without immediate legal help from a New York car accident lawyer, it is easy for victims to lose critical evidence, fall behind on deadlines, or accept unfair settlements that do not reflect the true cost of their injuries.
